Executive Reports Overview

Purpose: Board-level rollups. Where the Storage, Virtual, and FinOps sections answer operational questions about specific objects, Executive Reports answers portfolio questions: what does the estate look like, what is out of policy, and how is it trending. These are the screens you take into a leadership meeting.

The reports in this section

ReportWhat it answers
Executive OverviewHow capacity is distributed across classification, vendor, site, and operational category, and how the total has grown
IT DashboardWhat is currently breaching utilization and allocation thresholds
Tag TrendsHow consumption and cost are moving per business unit over time
Executive Backup SummaryWhether the estate is actually protected, by site, with immutability and offsite coverage
Inventory ReportHow much of everything you have, in one countable list

Two further slots exist in the Executive Reports navigation that are not yet documented here. Their pages will be added when source material is available.

What makes these different

  • They aggregate across contexts. Storage, virtualization, and backup appear side by side rather than in separate modules, so a single screen covers the whole estate.
  • They are exception-led, not inventory-led. The IT Dashboard shows only what breaches a threshold. That is a deliberately short list, and a short list is what gets acted on.
  • They are built to leave the product. Every panel carries an email action and a chart export, because these numbers end up in decks and board papers.

Global controls

  • Collection Date. Every report reads a point-in-time snapshot.
  • Change Client. Scopes the section to one client environment.
  • Custom Email. A Generate action producing an emailable version of the current view.

Common actions

A useful monthly rhythm runs the section in order. Start with the Inventory Report to confirm what is under management, read the Executive Overview for the shape and direction of capacity, work the IT Dashboard for anything out of policy, check Tag Trends for the business units driving growth, and finish on the Backup Summary to confirm the estate is protected. Findings then drill into the operational sections.

Tips

These screens display site names, vCenter hostnames, and data center identifiers from the connected environment. Redact before circulating outside the organization, and check screenshots specifically, because chart axis labels carry hostnames that are easy to overlook.
