# Delta Report

Delta Report compares two points in time and tells you what changed in between. VMs, hosts, vCPUs, memory, and disk, expressed as absolute change and as a percentage, with the effect on build capacity alongside. It is the screen that turns did that project work into a number.

## What this screen shows

- **Unit selection.** Run the comparison across data centers, vCenters, clusters, or VMs, depending on the granularity of the question.
- **Summary deltas.** Change in VMs, hosts, vCPUs, memory, and disk allocated over the window.
- **Table.** Growth columns with percentage changes, plus the build capacity impact of everything that moved.

Build capacity impact is the column that distinguishes this from a straightforward inventory diff. Adding forty VMs matters differently depending on whether the environment absorbed it comfortably or spent its remaining headroom doing so.

## When to use it

- **Auditing a period.** Month over month or quarter over quarter, for governance or for a review deck.
- **Proving an initiative worked.** Migrations, consolidations, and right-sizing programs all need an after number, and this is it.
- **Catching unexpected movement.** Growth nobody requested, or shrinkage nobody explained, both surface here.

## How to work it

- **Bracket the change window.** Set start and end dates just outside the change itself to isolate its impact from ordinary drift.
- **Group by constraint or environment.** That shows where growth concentrated, which is usually more actionable than the estate-wide total.

> **Tip:** Run this after a right-sizing batch. Allocations should fall while VM count holds steady. If VM count moved too, something other than your change is in the numbers and the result is not clean.
