# All Units: VMs All Units with the unit selector set to VMs is the full virtual machine inventory, categorized by utilization and distributed by cost. This is the screen where right-sizing programs start and where chargeback conversations get their raw material. ## What this screen shows - **Utilization trend chart.** VMs grouped into utilization categories, tracked over time, so you can see whether the estate is drifting toward over-allocation. - **Cost-tier donut.** VMs distributed across cost bands, for example under $100, $101 to $500, $501 to $2,000, and above $2,000. The exact bands depend on your configuration. - **Table.** vCPU, % CPU, memory, % memory, disk allocated, % disk utilized, OS, cluster, and vCenter. The combination of utilization category and cost tier is what makes this screen worth more than a VM list. A low-utilization VM in the top cost tier is the highest-value right-sizing candidate you have, and neither number identifies it alone. ## When to use it - **Building a right-sizing queue.** Filter to underutilized VMs and you have a worklist. - **Chargeback and showback.** Cost-tier analysis by cluster, vCenter, or OS supports the allocation conversation. - **Auditing placement and OS sprawl.** Grouping by OS surfaces oversized templates, which fix a whole class of problem at once. ## How to work it - **Filter to underutilized.** Then sort by cost tier so the expensive ones lead. - **Group by OS or cluster.** An oversized template shows up as a whole group of VMs with identical over-allocation, which is a single fix rather than fifty. > **Tip:** Do not right-size straight off this screen. Confirm in VM Summary that low utilization is sustained rather than seasonal. A quarterly batch job looks idle for eleven weeks and then needs everything it was given. ## Related screens [VM Right-Sizing](https://visualoneintelligence.com/docs/virtual-vm-right-sizing/) turns candidates into approved recommendations.
